Devils in the Darkness

This exhibition was an amalgamation of different threads of thinking. I had in my mind folk art, folklore, and folk horror and these works were an effort to bring all three together. It is a continuation of the developments I made during my situate residency, making allusions to my hometown as a real world facsimile of the folk horror genre. Devils in the darkness came to life at a point in my thinking in which I was embracing the things that people have hated me for. It was a catharsis after having to relive the worst parts of childhood. It emulates the attitude of a witch that is more than willing to be burned; that if people think she is evil, then evil she shall be.

This exhibition opened at Seventh Gallery, Melbourne, on the 26th of July. More on the exhibition here
